Flower Fest

So sad to see Flower Fest retiring this year - it is such a versatile set and I haven't purchased it yet (just keep borrowing).  This card is a complete Case of the very talented Karen Barber.  It was done using Blushing Bride, Lucky Limeade and So Saffron. Each flower was stamped twice, with White Embossing Powder over Versa Mark.  It took 8 flowers per card and 10 leaves.  Each was shaded using the marker of the same color as the paper.  A 1 1/4" punch gets pretty close to the main flower while a 3/4" does a good job with the center of the flower.  Just clean them up and clip out the notches and you are all set.  So much easier than fussy cutting the whole thing.

The base of Whisper White C/S was run through the Big Shot and the Dotted Swiss Embossing Folder.  A piece of Blushing Bride was layered onto the bottom half.  The 5 yard spool of SU ribbon will go a long way if I continue just using 4 1/4" per card.  The two oval punches take care of the sentiment.  So far I
sent these using Get Well, Birthday, And Thinking of You.  Two pearls complete the card.   A fun card that people seem to really enjoy receiving.  Thanks for stopping by.

Sending Love through cards

Our daughter is having major back surgery today.  So we are showering her with a card a day for a couple weeks.  You may remember when we did this for my dear friend Jean when she had surgery a few years ago.  Her cards are posted pretty far back on my blog but you can find them all at once by clicking on Get Well in the catagory column.  Anyway, we've sent some of those same card, just personalized them or updated them a little, whatever they needed.  Todays card did not scan worth beans, but hopefully you can get a good enough picture of what's going on.  This is an adorable girl Doctor, by Mo Manning, about to give her bear a shot.  I hope you can read the text - you for sure have to watch out for those Side Effects.  Thanks for stopping by, I always enjoy your visit!

A Heart Plant

These are two more fun cards we did on Saturday, again Casing Michelle Zindorf, but with a numer of changes.    We experimented with Vertical and Horizontal.  Which do you prefer?  These are brayered cards. The Heart stems are drawn in with Markers and tiny little hearts attached using glue.  The sun is rising in the background (via a Mask).  Pocket Silhouettes stamped in the corner and a ribbon runs behind it.  Enjoy.

Sweet....on life

My special card-making friend, KellyRae, came over Saturday and we had a ball 'playing'.  Our first creation was a CASE of the fantastic Michelle Zindorf new card.  Michelle makes lovely oversized cards, very often square.  Cheapies that we are, we try to keep everything standard 4.25 x 5.5.  Actually KellyRae sends so many hundreds of cards to our soldiers, that standard size is a major consideration.  We used a page from a book and 'aged' it with sponges and direct stamp pads.  We used the SU Cupcake punch and 2 oval punches (for the plate).  KellyRae brought the Sweet letters that she had cut from her new Cricut.  We 'cornered' the card with matching (almost) ribbon and I put my 'fake brads' on mine.  What fun we had copying this - especially since almost everything on it is 'changed' from the original :)

Happy Birthday Jessica

My granddaughter will turn 16 while I'm visiting in July.  Have had such fun creating this special card for her.  Have never done so much Paper Piecing.  Made about 5 mistakes related to never having done so much on one creation before but I managed to fake it on them and think it still turned out great.  I've used Crystal Lacquer on the Windhshield, headlights, hubcaps (does anybody still use those or am I showing my age LOL), scarf and eyes.  Colored everything with Copics and filled in some markings with Fine Point Sharpies.  Do believe that she and her brother will be sharing an old yellow volkswagon, thus the colors.  Am sure she'll just rip it open, to see if there might be some 'gas money' or something inside :).

3 Birds on a Wire

This was such a fun card to create.  It is a complete CASE of Theresa Momber (Crafting The Web).  Theresa does some awesome work and generously shares instructions for all to use.  This card is brayered using just 3 colors.  I used my home-made twine for the wire, taping it down on the back side of the top layer.  The three birds are made with the Stampin Up bird punch.  This card fits in a regular 9" envelope.    Enjoy!
